T.I. has officially shut the door on the long-rumored Verzuz battle with 50 Cent — and it’s not about music anymore.
During a recent appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, the Atlanta rapper explained that the proposed Verzuz didn’t “come out of nowhere.” According to T.I., the two previously discussed the idea face-to-face while working in Los Angeles and even agreed in principle to make it happen.
“I just ain’t call him out of the blue,” T.I. said. “We were moving around in L.A., selling some TV shows… I said, ‘What you think about this?’ He was like, ‘You want to do that sh*t?’ I said yeah. He was like, ‘Alright, cool.’”
T.I. claims the issue began when he publicly floated the idea — expecting 50 to follow through — but instead felt blindsided when 50 appeared to distance himself from it.
Things escalated further when 50 Cent posted an old video of T.I. testifying in court, trolling him on Instagram with the caption: “No verses, let’s do (The stay away challenge) and stay away from me.”
That post, according to T.I., crossed a line.
“Okay, you gon’ play. Alright, cool. Well, how about fck all of it? ’Cause now, I question your character,” T.I. said. “Just say you don’t want to do it. All the other extra lame-a** sht, man, that sh*t goofy.”
He didn’t mince words about how he feels now.
“I don’t want to stand on stage with him. I have no interest in standing on stage with that n*gga. I don’t respect him.”
While Verzuz matchups are often fueled by competitive energy and playful jabs, this situation appears to have shifted into something more personal. For now, fans hoping to see T.I.’s catalog go head-to-head with 50 Cent’s may have to accept that this battle is officially off the table.
