Mario is trending after a tense moment at his recent Big Fresno Fair performance turned into a viral clip. The R&B singer abruptly stopped his set mid-song to confront a cameraman who made his way onto the stage during his October 12 show in Fresno, California.
In the video circulating on social media, the 37-year-old artist is seen performing his 2004 classic “Braid My Hair” when he suddenly turns toward someone near him onstage. Within seconds, Mario calls out the intruder directly:
“Ayo, you gotta get the f*** off the stage, dawg. Get him off the stage… Yo, get the f*** off the stage, na, get the f off the stage,” he said, visibly frustrated as security rushed in to escort the man away.
Mario kicks a cameraman off the stage during his performance.
The clip spread rapidly across X and Instagram, with fans split on whether Mario’s reaction was justified.
Some defended the singer, noting that security breaches onstage can pose serious safety risks, especially during smaller, more intimate performances. Others felt his tone was unnecessarily harsh given that the cameraman appeared non-threatening.
“He did what any artist would do — safety first,” one fan commented. “Could’ve handled it better though. That energy was too much for a cameraman,” another replied.
While Mario hasn’t issued a public statement, the viral moment has reignited discussions about artist safety and personal boundaries at live events. Over the past few years, a number of performers — from pop stars to rappers — have faced uninvited fans or media personnel interrupting shows in attempts to film or interact up close.
Despite the disruption, fans praised Mario for quickly regaining composure. Once the man was removed, he picked up right where he left off, finishing “Braid My Hair” to loud cheers from the crowd.
The reason for the cameraman’s presence remains unclear, but the incident highlights a growing issue in the social media era — where even brief onstage intrusions can spark viral debates overnight.
