Lil Durk was originally taken into custody of October 2024 for a murder for hire case against fellow rapper Quando Rondo. A plot for revenge for Lil Durk’s cousin, King Von which took place in 2020. He is still awaiting his trial and has begun the start of it. Proceedings from a pretrial that took place on November 18th that discussed issues that have been ongoing with the case such as death threats, and increased coverage of it. It is evident that it will be hard to deal with this case in a normal way.
The trial was pushing for a an anonymous jury after everything that was taking place with it and the publicity. However, the defense attorneys wanted to have a public jury to make it fair. After, a photo was leaked from the court showing Lil Durk’s codefendants OTF Boogie and OTF Dede. With this showing the fragility of the case and keeping identities protected from the public to avoid harassment, and safety. Prosecutors added, “”This blatant violation of the federal rules, and the following widespread dissemination of the photograph, underscores that an anonymous jury is only one of the security measures this Court should employ to prevent improper attempts to intimidate and/or influence jurors, ensure a fair trial for all parties, and protect the judicial process,”.The trial is set to start January as we wait for more updates.
