After more than a decade behind bars, Harlem rapper Max B has officially confirmed that his release from prison is just weeks away.
The rapper, born Charly Wingate, was initially sentenced to 75 years in 2009 for his involvement in a murder and armed robbery. However, in 2016, a New Jersey Superior Court judge vacated his conviction due to a conflict of interest with his legal team. As part of a new plea deal, Max B pled guilty to aggravated manslaughter and accepted a 20-year sentence with time served.
Max B’s Release Date Confirmed
On Sunday (September 15), a post shared on Max B’s official Instagram revealed that he will walk free on November 9, 2025. The post included a letter from the New Jersey State Parole Board, confirming that his parole plan was approved.
“The Wave touches down November 9. The countdown begins,” the caption read.
Upon his release, Max B will be required to serve five years of probation.
Max B On Life After Prison
The rapper already has his eyes set on a fresh start. Back in July, Max B phoned into Drink Champs, where he discussed his growth behind bars and his plans once released.
He also reflected on his long-standing feud with Jim Jones, suggesting that he’s ready to move forward.
“Listen, Jim said a bunch of hard sht about me. We all said hard sht about each other. Jim done wished me dead, all type of sh*t. It’s all good. It’s love, man. I want to start over. I’m a new man. I’m a married man. I got four kids,” he said.
“Like, I’m on a whole different time right now. I’m out here to get my money and ride out the sunset with this sh*t. That’s the goal.”
A New Chapter for “The Wave”
Max B’s music and influence have lived on during his incarceration, with artists like Kanye West, French Montana, and Wiz Khalifa keeping his name alive in hip-hop conversations. Fans now await his return to the booth — and his future plans outside of music.
His imminent release marks the beginning of a new chapter for a rapper whose story has been defined by both controversy and cult-level influence.
