Lil Nas X is taking steps toward recovery following his headline-making arrest in Los Angeles last month. The Grammy-winning artist, born Montero Hill, is now under inpatient treatment out of state, according to a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge.
Judge Confirms Lil Nas X Is Receiving Care
During a scheduled pre-trial hearing earlier today, Judge Shellie Samuels confirmed that Lil Nas X will remain out of California as long as he continues treatment.
“Defendant is allowed to remain out of state as long as he remains in treatment,” Samuels said, adding that conditions will be revisited if his status changes to outpatient care. The court set his next date for November.
His Lawyer Speaks Out
Lil Nas X’s attorney, Drew Findling — who also represents Lil Durk — addressed the media after the hearing.
“You heard the ‘treatment’ word. We’re doing what is best for Montero from a personal standpoint and a professional standpoint, but most importantly, for his well-being,” Findling said.
He continued, “He is surrounded by an amazing family, an amazing team of people that care about him and love him. And we’re just addressing those issues. It’s really as simple as that. He’s had a great life, and he’ll continue to have a great life. This is a bump that he’s going to get over.”
What Happened During His Arrest
The news follows Lil Nas X’s arrest on August 21. He was spotted walking through Los Angeles streets in just his underwear and cowboy boots before eventually stripping completely nude.
Police say the 25-year-old became combative when they attempted to detain him, allegedly injuring three officers. He was charged with:
- Three felony counts of battery with injury on a police officer
- One felony count of resisting an executive officer
If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison. He spent the weekend in jail before posting a $75,000 bond.

Days later, he reassured fans with a post on Instagram Stories:
“Your girl is gonna be OK, y’all. OK? She’s gonna be all right. Sht. That was fcking terrifying… That was a terrifying last four days. But your girl is gonna be all right.”
As speculation continues around the undisclosed nature of his treatment, supporters and fans are rallying behind Lil Nas X, hoping his recovery leads him back to both stability and the stage.
