For the first time since his August 21 arrest, Lil Nas X — real name Montero Lamar Hill — has spoken out, taking to Instagram Stories to assure fans that he’s going to be OK. The Grammy-winning artist, facing four felony charges, described the past few days as “f—ing terrifying,” but added confidently, “your girl is gonna be all right.”
The abrupt detainment followed an incident in Studio City, Los Angeles, where Lil Nas X was found walking nearly naked down Ventura Boulevard, wearing only underwear and cowboy boots. Officers say he charged at them, allegedly injuring three in the process. He was hospitalized for a suspected overdose before posting $75,000 bail and pleading not guilty to charges including three counts of battery on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer.
His father has stepped forward to defend him, denying any drug involvement and asking fans for their support and prayers. Meanwhile, Lil Nas X’s attorney called the episode an “aberration” in an otherwise exemplary career.
The next court date is set for a pre-trial hearing on September 15.
