Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner are taking their feud with Ray J to court. For the first time in nearly two decades of public life, the mother-daughter duo has filed a defamation lawsuit against the R&B singer, accusing him of spreading baseless allegations that tied their names to federal crimes.
The lawsuit
Filed earlier this week, the suit cites two separate occasions in which Ray J made damaging claims:
- In the Fox documentary TMZ Presents: United States V. Sean Combs: Inside the Diddy Trial, Ray J said: “If you told me that the Kardashians were being charged for racketeering, I might believe it.”
- On Sept. 24, during a livestream, he escalated by bragging about the “federal RICO I’m about to drop” on Kardashian and Jenner — without offering a shred of evidence.
Court documents
The filing accuses Ray J of carrying out “a sustained campaign of harassment and defamation” to stay relevant by attacking Kardashian and Jenner. It also stresses:
“Ray J’s public statements are blatantly false. No such federal investigation exists; no law enforcement agency has initiated any criminal proceedings or investigations related to racketeering charges against Ms. Kardashian or Ms. Jenner; and no credible evidence whatsoever supports these inflammatory allegations.”
Court papers further describe Ray J as someone who “has not moved on from a relationship that ended more than two decades ago,” referencing his infamous connection to Kardashian through their 2003 sex tape, released in 2007.
Attorney statement
The Kardashians’ attorney, Alex Spiro, told People:
“They have never brought a defamation claim before nor have they been distracted by noise. But this false and serious allegation left no choice.”
What’s next
Ray J has yet to respond publicly to the lawsuit. Meanwhile, this legal move marks a major shift for Kardashian and Jenner, who have typically avoided litigation over public commentary — until now.
