Diddy’s commitment to sobriety may have hit a rough patch behind bars. According to TMZ, the hip-hop mogul was caught drinking homemade alcohol inside Fort Dix, the low-security New Jersey prison where he’s currently serving his 50-month sentence.
Sources tell TMZ that Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, had been brewing the alcohol himself — a prison-made concoction of Fanta, sugar, and apples, left to ferment for two weeks until it turned alcoholic. Prison officials reportedly caught on to the setup and confronted him.
Initially, officials planned to move Diddy to another unit, but two sources later confirmed that the decision was reversed, allowing him to stay where he is.
This latest incident comes only weeks after Diddy made a public statement about his sobriety. Ahead of his sentencing, he told the judge he had been “sober for the first time in 25 years,” claiming that prison had been a place of deep reflection and change.
In a letter to the court, he wrote:
“The old me died in jail and a new version of me was reborn. Prison will change you or kill you — I choose to live.”
However, these recent developments suggest the Bad Boy Records founder may still be struggling to stay on that path.
Just last week, photos surfaced of Diddy in the Fort Dix prison yard, appearing upbeat and social as he chatted and laughed with other inmates. The scene painted a relaxed picture of the 55-year-old’s adjustment to prison life — though his alleged homemade liquor stash tells a different story.
Diddy was convicted in July on two counts of violating the Mann Act, and officially sentenced in October to just over four years in prison. He was transferred to Fort Dix shortly after sentencing.
When contacted about the situation, prison officials told TMZ they had “no information” regarding the incident.
For now, it seems the former mogul’s journey toward rehabilitation and self-discovery is proving more complicated than expected.
