The long-running tension between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj just reached new heights after the rap rivals clashed on X (formerly Twitter) Monday night (Sept. 29). What began as slick album promo quickly spiraled into one of the messiest social media feuds hip-hop has seen in years.
Nicki Minaj takes the first shot
Nicki, 42, appeared to shade Cardi’s new album Am I the Drama? — which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and went double platinum in its first week.
“Never provoke a writer while they’re ✍🏾,” Nicki tweeted while promoting her own upcoming album, set to drop March 27, 2026.
She then mocked Cardi’s promotional pricing:
“$4.99.”
Nicki doubled down with parody raps aimed at Cardi’s looks, sales, and pregnancy:
- “Abcdefgeeeeeeee… SUR GER REE TO LOOK LIKE MEEEEEE.”
- “Fallin off the charts wit a big bellyyyy / Barefoot, still smellyyyyy / Still. You. Could. Not. outsell. meeeeee.”
She also coined the nickname “Barney Dangerous” in reference to Cardi’s pregnancy and fashion choices.
Cardi B claps back hard
Cardi, 32, wasn’t about to stay silent. She fired back by dubbing Nicki “Cocaine Barbie” and flipping her own lyrics:
“A B C D E F G / Yor man have to snatch PUSSY / Pussy taste like honey comb / Your bro be touching 12 year olds.”
On the sales jab, Cardi made it clear she’s not intimidated:
“It’s not the gag you think… You’ve been in the game 16 years, you need to compare yourself to YOUR peers — Drake, Rihanna, Taylor Swift — not me. I was in high school when you came out.”
The feud turns personal
Things escalated when Nicki referenced Cardi’s pregnancy — her fourth child and first with NFL star Stefon Diggs. Cardi clapped back by bringing up Nicki’s fertility struggles:
“Like you wasn’t going to different fertility doctors cuz you couldn’t reproduce from all them percs scrambling your eggs. NOT ALLEGEDLY … Lord protect my babies.”
Other rappers jump in
The drama didn’t stop with Nicki and Cardi. Ice Spice dropped a shady “tee-hee” emoji, while JT from City Girls went all-in, calling Cardi a “dirty non-talented rat” and mocking her $4.99 album price as “hot dog” numbers.
Cardi wasted no time firing back with a scathing verse from “Magnet”:
“Fake friend-ass bitch (Huh) / Clown-ass bitch (Shh) / Your loyalty depends who you around-ass bitch / Backdoor ho, hatin’ on the low-ass bitch.”
Social media meltdown
The timeline immediately exploded with memes, ranging from Barney in heels to Nicki in pink wigs. Fans are fully invested, turning the feud into a digital spectacle that shows no signs of cooling down.
What began as album promo has officially spiraled into one of the ugliest hip-hop Twitter wars in recent memory — and both camps seem ready to keep firing shots.
