Benzino recently came out to share what he felt were his sentiments about his father/daughter relationship, with Coi Leray. He had an interview with Carlos King, he reflected on a past relationship he had with the artist. Benzino commented,”I think being in the light, being a street guy with kids, plays into it. We don’t have no manual. We just go by what we know. And the good thing is that, since I’m older, I do have morality and understand from my mother and father because the older generations, that’s what I come from. I want them to be better than me.” Clearly showing that he has some regrets with how the familial ties were handled and there were other factors that may have affected it how it went and he was transparent about how his life had an impact on how he saw it and unsure of how to be a father.
Despite having tension over the years, Benzino stills shows care and empathy towards her. When she gave birth to her daughter, he said this” Words can’t describe how happy I am for Coi. I know she’s gonna be a great mother and I’m also happy for Trippie and his family. Love conquers all and I can’t wait to spend time with my granddaughter.” To be able to be apart of his granddaughter’s life and a chance at changing things. Benzino also adding that maybe with the birth of her own child it will allow her to have a different perspective and be able to have a change of heart about things have happened when she gets to experience it for herself. He commented, “It’s gonna grow her up. I hope it does, because she’ll finally get to know what it is to be a parent. She’ll get to see first-hand what I was going through.” It will hopefully become a step in the right direction to repair their relationship with one another.
