Trey Songz Arrested in Manhattan for Alleged Assault of Nightclub Employee

R&B singer Trey Songz was arrested in Manhattan following two alleged early-morning incidents involving a Times Square nightclub and a nearby lounge, according to New York court filings.

The artist, whose legal name is Tremaine Neverson, was taken into custody on Dec. 4 after prosecutors say an altercation occurred at Dramma Night Club in the Times Square area around 4:25 a.m. Court documents state that venue staff informed Neverson the club was closing, which allegedly led to a confrontation.

According to the criminal complaint, prosecutors allege Neverson struck a nightclub employee in the face, causing swelling and pain. As a result, he was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor under New York Penal Law.

Court records further indicate that Neverson was involved in a separate incident later that same morning at Mira, a Manhattan restaurant and hookah lounge. Prosecutors allege property damage occurred during that encounter, leading to a charge of second-degree criminal mischief.

Authorities estimate the alleged damage at Mira totaled approximately $1,500. Items listed in the filings include hookahs, DJ equipment, and furniture. Under New York law, second-degree criminal mischief can be charged as a felony when damages exceed certain thresholds.

Neverson, 41, appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court on Sunday for arraignment on both charges. A judge released him pending further proceedings and imposed court-ordered conditions, including a temporary order of protection in favor of the alleged assault victim.

Neverson’s attorney said in a statement that the singer is cooperating with the legal process and expects the facts to emerge through court proceedings. The defense also referenced a separate confrontation in which individuals allegedly attempted to surround Neverson, prompting intervention by his security team.

Prosecutors have not publicly addressed that claim beyond statements made during the arraignment, and law enforcement agencies have not released additional details.

Neverson has not commented publicly following the hearing. The allegations remain unproven, and the case will now proceed through Manhattan Criminal Court, where future hearings will determine whether the charges move forward, are amended, or dismissed.
