Rolling Ray, the influencer and internet personality who proudly called himself “the most famous boy inna wheelchair,” has died at the age of 28 — just days before his birthday.
His mother confirmed the news in an emotional Facebook post on Wednesday, writing: “It is with a heavy, heavy heart that I let you know that my son Ray Ray (@Iamrollingray) has gone home to be with the Lord… This is going to be a long road.”
Born Raymond Harper in Washington, D.C., Rolling Ray built a massive following online through viral skits, quotable catchphrases, and his unapologetic personality. He later expanded to television, appearing on MTV’s Catfish Trolls and the LGBTQ+ dating series Bobby I Love You, Purrr.
Ray had faced serious health struggles in recent years. In May, he was rushed into intensive care after battling pneumonia and a blood infection. Back in 2022, he contracted Covid-19 and pneumonia simultaneously, telling fans the illness nearly took his life: “My immune system isn’t strong enough to fight it by myself.”
Despite his health battles, Ray remained a vibrant, outspoken figure online. His sudden passing has sparked an outpouring of grief across social media.
Singer Bobby Lytes, who worked closely with Ray, wrote on X:
Screenwriter Angel Williams remembered Ray as “so filled with life” even during his sickest moments, while author George M. Johnson Garcon said Ray “truly redefined the definition of Purrrr.”
Rolling Ray leaves behind a legacy as one of the internet’s most colorful personalities — loved for his humor, his boldness, and his ability to turn everyday moments into viral magic.
