Fetty Wap Released From Prison After Serving Nearly Three Years

Fetty Wap has officially been released from prison after serving nearly three years of a six-year sentence related to federal drug trafficking charges.

The New Jersey rapper, born Willie Junior Maxwell II, was originally sentenced in 2023 following his conviction in a large-scale drug distribution case tied to shipments of heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and crack cocaine across state lines. He had been in federal custody since his 2021 arrest.

Fetty’s early release comes after he served just under half of his sentence, with the remainder expected to be completed under supervised release conditions. While details surrounding the exact terms of his release have not yet been made public, the news has already sparked a wave of reactions from fans who have been calling for his freedom for years.

Known for defining a major moment in 2010s hip-hop with hits like “Trap Queen,” Fetty Wap largely disappeared from the spotlight following his legal troubles. His release now opens the door to a potential comeback, though it remains unclear when — or if — he plans to return to music immediately.

For many fans, the moment feels like a second chance for an artist whose career was abruptly halted at its peak.
