Cardi B is facing yet another courtroom battle — and this time, it’s over a photo of herself. The Grammy-winning rapper has been hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit for posting an image of herself on social media without the photographer’s approval.
According to NJ.com, Florida-based photographer Jawad Elatab filed the suit on October 1, claiming he took the photo back in 2019 and officially registered the copyright that same year. The lawsuit alleges that Cardi B posted the image in 2021 on Twitter (now X) without authorization, despite receiving two legal notices in 2023 and 2024.
Elatab accuses Cardi of willful infringement, saying her use of the image boosted traffic — and profits — on her account. He’s seeking damages, profits, attorney’s fees, and an injunction to stop any further use of the photo.
Cardi B, however, has made it clear she’s not tolerating what she views as “frivolous” lawsuits. After her recent legal battle with Emani Ellis, she warned:
“The next person to try to do a frivolous lawsuit against me, I’m going to countersue… Don’t ever think I’m just going to give you my money that I work hard for.”
Whether this new case qualifies as frivolous or not, one thing’s certain — Cardi B’s legal streak isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
