Young Thug’s long-awaited UY SCUTI album has finally arrived, but one of its standout moments comes courtesy of Cardi B, whose fiery feature on “On The News” is sparking major conversation online.
The 20-track project, Thug’s first full release since his October 2024 jail release, includes guest appearances from Travis Scott, Mariah The Scientist, T.I., Ken Carson, Sexyy Red, Lil Baby, 21 Savage, and more. But it’s Cardi’s verse that has fans buzzing for its pointed, no-holds-barred bars.
Cardi B’s sharpest bars
Cardi begins her verse with broad shots at her rivals, before escalating into highly specific accusations:
“How you knowin’ when you got these bches laughin’? / But how the fk you laughin’ when I heard you gettin’ beat on? / Gotta pay a n**a way every trip y’all be on (Hah). I’m like, nah, that couldn’t be I / That couldn’t be me, no, that couldn’t be C.”*
She also pokes fun at an unnamed rapper’s man for being too broke to afford vacations.
Fans debate if shots are aimed at Nicki Minaj
Almost instantly, listeners speculated that Cardi’s disses were aimed at her longtime rival Nicki Minaj. The Barbz quickly pushed back, shutting down the claims, but the debate between the two fanbases has only fueled the track’s buzz.
Why UY SCUTI matters for Young Thug
UY SCUTI arrives after months of anticipation and marks Thugger’s first major project since his release from jail on Oct. 31, 2024, following his high-profile YSL RICO case. His last album, Business Is Business (2023), dropped while he was still incarcerated.
Interestingly, Thug delayed the album’s original Sept. 19, 2025 release date specifically to give Cardi space to shine with her sophomore album Am I The Drama?, which debuted that same day. Cardi has since announced a nationwide tour, hosted a series of meet-and-greets, and even released a deluxe version of the project featuring a remix with Latto.
With UY SCUTI now out, Cardi’s contribution has quickly become one of the most talked-about verses of the year.
