Akon has for many years stayed out of the public eye. Being very private person, and not often sharing details of his partner. Akon has been married to Tomeka Thiam for twenty nine years of marriage and now that the annoucement of divorce comes as a shock;not being able to come to an agreement within their marriage. Akon has said for many years he believes in polygamy and has had other long term partners during his marriage. This has been a cause of their divorce and now to a battle in court.
Tomeka Thiam and Akon are both arguing to not give eachother spousal support for the near future. As well, asking for joint custody of their child they share together who is now seventeen years old. Also, Tomeka Thiam requesting sole physical custody. The now divorced pair is trying to control what assets and shares of the money they are allowed to for one another and be able to come to agreement. It remains both are against the spousal support during this time.
