Longtime music executive, Kevin Liles, has been acquitted from a civil sexual assault suit. The suit was about actions that he did during his time as president of Def Jam Recordings in 2002. The plaintiff, who is left as Jane Doe and left as anonymous said that Liles had sexually assault, misconduct and rape. However, the judge District Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald dismissed the case because it was already settled with Universal Music Group in 2005. It was settled for and paid by Universal Music Group fro a sum of $47,500, which Jane Doe agreed not to pursue further action.
Judge ordered that all charges be dropped and that he be not held for any of the previous charges. She declared that it could not bring up allegations that were already handled and could not be reopened years later. There will be no further trials held and no revisiting the case, making it very clear on this matter. Liles was co founder of 300 entertainment in 2012 and it was later bought by Warner Music Group in 2021. Liles was very relieved to be rid and dropped all claim of the lawsuit.
